Potted Plants

Early this morning, as the residents were stirring and ready to enjoy the muggy dampness, what did we spy but two new potted plants on our picnic table: no, not ours, but a handsome fellow we have named Rascal, and a newcomer little Siamese cat. We are dearly hoping that both have a home and are simply enjoying the relaxing grounds of Maple Grove Gardens. And of course, moving day in Quebec invariably means new people in the neighborhood, along with new cats and dogs. We may need another picnic table!

Make sure to visit The Friday Ark and then Carnival of the Cats on Sunday.

As Father's Day Approaches

My father passed away in 2005, and as the years drift by, I like to remember him in the best of times: Here he is with the family kitty Mieczusz (pronounced Myechoosh).

As always, there's more to see at The Friday Ark and then Carnival of the Cats on Sunday.

Time is a Little Girl

Time is a little girl
who leans her lovely face into yours
and pulls you laughing
through the backstreets and boulevards
and in and out of windows
of not quite forever
and someday
when she’s tired of her play
she lets go of your hand.
- Jessica Radcliffe

To my father: I wish I had understood sooner, before it was too late....

Chaiyka Enjoys the Spring

Well, when the vet came over to take out the drainage "pipe" from Longfellow's healing abscess, he also checked over our new little one, Chaiyka. After a careful (ahem) examination, we were astonished to hear that she is actually a he! And, he is already operated (and sadly declawed, but we already knew that). We've had a lot of cats in our time, and I must say we have never been wrong about this type of thing. She, oops, he is petite, but maybe is young and will grow. Trouble is, we cannot get over saying "she" all the time!
