Angry

So, as you can imagine, all of last weekend's vet activity for our Bandito landed up costing a fair bit. So, in a feeble attempt to save money (fool that I am), I thought I would buy discounted flea meds on the net. I found a nice site called True North Pets - a very nice looking site indeed, and being no newbie to online shopping I saw no red-flags to warn me. After well over a $100 spent, already taken from my credit card, nothing has arrived. So - I have called - and faxed -and called again, and faxed again, and emailed many times. Nothing! By accident I found a blogger who has experienced the same scam. Argh!! Here is a screenshot of their site:
BEWARE!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!

  1. That's crummy. Thanks for the heads up, since we're in Ontario. Actually, I didn't even think there were any Canadian companies selling discounted pet stuff...obviously this one isn't. Very unfortunate. Is there someone else you could notify, like a consumer group or the Better Business Bureau?

  2. Oh yes, I have contacted my VISA (March is anti-fraud month - YAY!)- and also I will report them to the RCMP - yes - there is actually a spot there online where you can report scammers :) There was another, legitimate company, called Canada Pet Meds or something like that - they told me that they could not ship to Canada!! How bizarre eh? Due to some import restrictions etc. (Sigh). Off to the vet I go for flea meds :(

  4. Thanks for letting us know. Our mom does lots of online shopping and is always worried about getting scammed. We hope you can get your money back.

  5. If you put it on Visa or MasterCard, you can do something called "chargeback" through your financial institution. When you purchase through these cards, your purchase is guaranteed to a degree. You should be able to get your money back. I'm so sorry you had this experience. I purchase flea stuff through Entirely Pets and Only Natural Pet Supplies. I don't go anywhere else. I don't know if they can ship to CA. My best to you.

  6. So sorry to hear this - also beware of fake flea meds that are sold online - the package looks fine but when you get it, it is not what you ordered. I found this out the hard way but they at least refunded my money.

  8. I'm so sorry about that. I have only suppliers that can ship in USA - so I can't recommend anyone for you. Ever since the 9/11/01 attack, everybody is nervous about stuff being shipped.

  9. I have ordered from this company as well and have yet to receive my order!!! Very very frustrating!! I'm going to now have to phone my Visa company and sort it out....not the news I wanted to hear when I googled 'true north pet complaints'.... :(

just so everyone knows; I live in Edmonton (where this company is said to be) and I've never seen their warehouse before. I also just tried the 1800 number, and even just tried that number with area code 780
-that number is no longer in service.
It would be a good idea to do whatever it takes to get your money back.
Either the company went under, or you've been a victim of fraud.
